Content: Professor Reich's presentation, "How Unequal Can America Get Before We Snap?" examines timely questions: Inequality of income and wealth keep widening in the United States. The last time we witnessed this degree of inequality was in the 1920s, but by many measures we haven't been this unequal since the 1890s and the era of the "robber barons." Why is it occurring? Is it a problem? If so, what can be done about it?
The 15th Annual Haas School Business Forecast Luncheon at the Palace Hotel featuring Robert B. Reich with Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has served in three national administrations, most recently as secretary of labor under President Bill Clinton. He has written eleven books, including “The Work of Nations”, which has been translated into 22 languages. In 2003, Reich was awarded the prestigious Vaclev Havel Foundation Prize, by the former Czech president, for his pioneering work in economic and social thought.
